Body Paragraph 


You have changed your residence to a newly built house. Write an e-mail about it to a friend who is presently living away from your place

In your email, you should:

• describe your new house

• invite your friend to stay with you during the holidays

• tell your friend about something you miss in the new house.

(Developing two bullet points)

•Give one or two details (without listing) about your new house, developing your experience rather than fact.
Eg: A balcony which is overlooking the beach in golden sand.
• Personalise the given details
Eg: You’re so fond of sunset, right? When you come we will while away a whole evening in the balcony. Sunset and loads of groundnuts!
• When you invite your friend, develop it with something you can do together.
Eg: You must stay here at least for one night. We will go for a dinner underwater at Ithaa Undersea. It’s just a jump away

Vocabulary help

•beachfront – close to beach
Eg: My new is in that beach front building
• baronial – ( about a house/room) large and impressive
Eg: Dad wanted the hall baronial in style.
• snug – small, warm and comfortable.
Eg: We’ve a study in the new house. It’s snug.
• apple-pie order- perfect order and regularity.
Eg: Everything in the living hall is in apple-pie order.
• not enough room to sing a cat – very small
Eg: you know my room in the old house. It didn’t have enough room to sing a cat
• creature comforts- modern conveniences( such as air-conditioning):
Eg: To be frank, I want all these creature comforts
•a cut above [n]: better, of higher quality.
Eg: The curtains of the room are a cut above the other things.
