A group of lions : Pride


Etymology : The word pride is derived from a variety of forms of European languages such as  the Late old English 'pryto', Kentish 'prede', Mercian 'pride . It was first used to refer to a group  of lions in 15th century. However, this sense of the word gained wide currency and became  a standard vocabulary only by 1930.


Sentence : Usually a male lion heads a pride.
