Introduction
Education is perhaps one field that undergoes convulsive changes in our times [A1]. Most countries are shifting their focus to technical and professional education [A2]. The plan of our government to open some vocational schools is no surprise in this light. Still, in my point of view [A3], this move is unfair and damaging [A4] and should be revoked.
Body paragraph-1: Explains the supporting point in the opinion statement- this move is unfair and damaging
The proposal to open training schools at secondary level is unjust and destructive as it discriminates certain sections of students and drops them off the educational mainstream. All children should get the foundational education in academic subjects such as language studies, sciences and social sciences. This knowledge is crucial for anyone to be successful in any profession. Given this fact, sending some children to job training on the basis of tentative assessments can be catastrophic and amounts to blatant denial of equal opportunity.
Body paragraph-2: Response to the alternative opinion
There are people who defend the idea of vocational schools on the ground of differential education. Their point is that children are different in talents and some may not have aptitude for abstract knowledge [A6]. This is of course a misrepresentation. Our question is about the level where training jobs should start. A basic education in key disciplines will only help students in any training they take later. What it means is that vocational education should start only after the secondary level. [A7]
Conclusion
In conclusion [A8], all reasonable considerations show that the vocational training should not be at the cost of the basic general education. So, I appeal to all stake holders to demand the government to step back from this move.
